NEW SHIP

I got the NX Enterprise ship not sure why but I really like this model.

Wile not really Star trek online relevant but STO inspired at least, I have been trying to learn to speak Klingon or at least seeing if it is possible to learn Klingon. I have been listening to audio book Conversational Klingon by Marc Okrand the father of the Klingon language, I listen to it two or three times a day sometimes start to finish, some times I just listen to one section a couple of times a day. I have also been trying the lessons off the Klingon language institutes web site. I have to say I think it is possible to learn to speak. I am no where near that but I am beginning to pick up some words and I have a fairly good understanding of sentence structure. I have even been able to pick up errors in different places on the net like t-shirt phrases and the infamous 12:00 slip up in the audio book, that one I had to look up because it was bugging me so much I though there was no way it could be them making a mistake. So I am beginning to under stand the language a little.

I got another tribble reward. I have a “pet” runabout that tags along behind my ship. It does not do anything and it is quite a bit out of scale but it looks really cool. I also got the Klingon version for J’rodd not quite as nice as the runabout but it still looks cool.

NEW UNIFORMS

I have been playing my Fed alts (I have two) I kind of went a little nuts with the c-store purchases. I wanted a new ship and decide I needed the Enterprise bundle, it is a neat looking ship, and the bundle is a good deal as you get the ship and 3 costumes the Enterprise uniform, the mirror Enterprise uniform and the T’Pol uniform all for 1250 points. These were all for my Cardassian character and crew. I also wanted the next gen TV uniforms for my Vulcan alt and his crew.

LEVEL CAPPED KLINGON

So I level capped my Klingon, I started a new Federation character he is a Cardassian engineer, to start off I have him dressed in TOS uniform flying an original Constitution class I figure as I rank up I will change his uniform to match the ship and era. I am already kind of missing playing Klingon though so I don’t know how long this will all last till I go back to the KDF.

I have not had much of a chance to up date here, I am still really enjoying Star Trek online although I am not getting a lot of time to play lately. J’RoDD is fast approaching Lt General and coming up on my 200 day mark. I was also promoted in my fleet am actually at the stage where I have been able to help out newer players a little. I have switched to a Carrier which seems to be working pretty well for me although it is an ugly ship and turns like a pig. I have been spending most of my time out in Gamma Orionis fighting the Borg. But I did make it back to do the weekly missions which were awesome. I bought myself a hand full of C-store credits and got my self a Baby Targ.

STO CONTEST

Star Trek Online is holding a contest for players to submit the design for the new Enterprise for STO I was so pumped for this I started sketching on napkins the second I heard about it. I was literally crushed when I found out it was only open to US residence. I am serous when I say all I wanted to win was a life time subscription the Star Trek online. I mean the lab tops are supper cool but all I kept thinking was life time membership would be sweet. I mean I say all this like I thought I would win. It is too bad I had a whole design philosophy and everything. Maybe I will finish it and to send it in maybe someone will like it.

STO GAME PLAY

I so loving Star trek online, the weekly last episode was really cool, loved the rewards! I got my old school Klingon disrupter. I have been camped out in Gamma Orionos since I made Brigadier General; I came once back for my promotion to Major General and then once for the weekly. I am so looking forward to my 200 day veteran reward hoping there is something in there for the Klingons.

Well my subscription for Star Trek online is up in 25 days. I am still enjoying the game so I think I will renew it for another few months. I kind of with they would put out monthly cards, it is not like you are saving anything by getting the 60 days cards. I kind of thought if you had a few months worth of time then just topped it up when I could afford it that would be good. Bottom line is I still want to play so I will get another 60 day card.

I have given this topic a bit of thought lately. Regarding Klingons particularly I would like to see fleets aligned with the major houses. This could be utilized with persistent pvp territories maybe have all of Klingon space be open pvp. This would also fit in with our Klingon story arc, Jm’pok’s dealings with the Romulans and the House of Duras, the obvious dissent in the ranks of the Gorn,Orion and Nausicaans. So if your fleet could be loyal to the honourable house of Mar’tok, or if you are an unhappy Gorn,Orion or Nausicaans or a p’taq you would want to be “loyal” to the house of Duras. I don’t really know how this would work I just think it would be cool.

J'Rodd was promoted to Captain late last week. I took a new ship a Vor'Cha. I am still weapons and systems configurations and I have not renamed it yet and I have not gone into PvP with it. I am not really sure if I am crazy about the look of the ship I can not quite put my finger on it yet. I should also head back to Q'ronos and get my kit sorted out.

Something that has bothered me a little about the K’T’inga model in STO is that it has what I am pretty sure is the shuttle bay as the impulse engines. I still love the ship and the model though.

I cranked the difficulty slider to 11 the other night. I got my butt handed to me though I think I like it. It makes those major component finds a little more useful. Although J'rodd did have to sell every thing he had to get a regenerator to heal a crit injury.

It looks like they fixed the PvP Q’s. I must say I am doing not too shabby. I am on the winning side more often then not. The last one I lot we were out numbered 2 to 1 and I thought we did pretty well, held our own as it were. I have actually come though a few matches with out a scratch.

Duras statue?

Is it just me or is that a statue of that petaQ Duras in the great hall on Qo'Nos? Or is is that the son of the petaQ Toral or the petaq Duras son of Toral.

STO SEASON 2

I must say I really like season 2! I loved the House always wins and Bring down the house missions. I know there are some issues with the PvP cues But other than that I think it looks great plays great!

J’Rodd finally made commander! So I now have my K’T’nga. I have not had a chance to take her into battle yet I have been busy making her look nice, and playing Dabo at “Drozana” station. I think I may need to sell off some stuff so I can upgrade my systems a little more particularly the weapons. I really like the look of the K’T’nga I guess I am a little old school, I think I may be in a minority because I do not see a lot of them flying around.

I know I must be doing something wrong in PvP I just don’t know what it is. Sometimes I get stomped other times I am doing the stomping. I think it must have some thing to do with my spec’s I have also been playing around with my weapons load out. I think I may change my shield type I have been running with a covariant shield but I think I read that they can absorb more damage but are slower to recharge.

I figured out what I was doing wrong with the holo emitter I think I was inadvertently double clicking the icon. So anyway I got it working and it is pretty cool.

I was playing on Tribble last night. To be more specific I was playing Dabo! It is quite addictive. I was playing to get enough gold pressed Latium to buy a holo emitter for my ship which was 40,000 GPL but I ended up winning 140,000 plus! So I did get the holo emitter to make my ship look like a Cardassian Galor class. But when I activate it I get a activation animation but the look of my ship doesn’t change. I am not sure if maybe Tribble did not patch fully or maybe they only works in PvP. I have been looking to see which is the case I can not find any info I may have to brave a post on the form.

I am not sure if this is part of the last patch or if I have inadvertently changed some thing with my ships configuration or it could just be that I was still doing LT missions and now moved into the LT commander rank missions, but I am finding them a little more difficult. For example the defeat 5 Starfleet squadrons where before I don’t think I even have my shield dented now when I hit the first there light cruisers they actually got my forward shield down! I am not complaining I actually like it I just have to change my tactics and look into upgrading my ships systems.

J’Rodd is half way to his promotion to commander. I have sort of been splitting my play time between Tribble (the test server) and regular server. Most of my time on Tribble is mostly checking out the ascetics. I do want to try some of the PvE stuff. I also did discover my tactical officers cannon ability on Tribble. I really want to check out the ship interiors but they are not up yet. Basically I try to get on Tribble and if I can’t then I sign into the regular server. But with my promotion coming up I think I may just skip the first step and just go straight into the regular server. I am thinking I may be able to get my K’T’inga by Wednesday. I do not get a lot of time to play I have two young children so I generally do not play until they are in bed. I play for an hour then I have to go to be my self as I get up at 5AM, I sometimes I can play for a half hour or so before I have to leave for work, then two days a week I go home and play for an hour before I have to pick up the kids from day care. So that is about 13.5 hours a week it seems like a lot until you break it down like that. Plus I am sure that there are people who put those kinds of hours into the game a day.

RAPTOR

Okay I have changed my Klingon ship to a Raptor. I like the look a little better but with the three forward weapons slots I could but to put in two heavy duty cannons and a quantum torpedo. Plus it has two tactical stations and one is a LT tactical station so I have one of my tactical LT’s with the high yield torpedo ability and he also has increase cannon volley ability the other has the ability to fire of a torpedo spread. It is working out quite well for me. I still want my K’T’inga and am hoping I should have it by the end of the week.

Tribble

I finally got on to Tribble today. I just played around with J'Rodd's uniform and it looks awesome! The leather looks like leather the metal looks like metal and finally fur sleeves! Finaly an eye patch!The sashes still have the clipping issue but everything else looks awesome! Eleven thumbs up!!!!

I have kind of drifted into using my cruiser I played around a bit with the weapons and consol’s and I like it the best but it is ugly as stink. It would not look too bad if you took off the fin like things that stick out on the bottom. I just can not wait to get my K’T’INGA being a little old school I want to fly one of those more then the newer ones.

One thing I kind of like is when the talk about say season 2 coming out and they say something like “this will make the Klingons happy” and I think hay I am a Klingon and that does make me happy. But I also think it is funny and kind of cool how they refer to the Klingon players as the Klingons, like they are actually Klingons. I have already set J’Rodd has my main character and I think it is so cool that from now on I will almost exclusively play as Klingon. Man I typed Klingon a lot this post…..KLINGON!

I kind of avoid the forums unless I am looking for info on something specific, But I don’t porous them and I certainly do not post there. There is way too much hating going on there same with the Facebook page. It seems to me that the Star Trek fans are happy be the hard core gamers are not. I would just like to go on record and say I am a fairly hard core Trek fan and I am hard core gamer but I am fairly new to MMO’s although I have played a few, and I love the game. I think it is great and getting better all the time.

Still playing and still liking it a lot. I am playing as a Klingon right now both Characters are Lt Commander Lv3. I am playing as my J’Rodd my Klingon character I really want to level up to get my K’tinga I just hope it is as cool as it looks. I am not really crazy about my currant Klingon ships I am still playing around with the crew placements and different weapons and consul configurations. It is funny how it seems that the ship that seems works the best for me is the one that is the least astatically pleasing to me. And that go’s the same for my Star Fleet character too.

They have a whole whack of new items on the cryptic store. Some of which I want. I know it is really just cosmetic but I kind of want TOS uniforms and pre refit Constitution would be pretty cool too. Like I say it is only cosmetic but it is kind of a badge too sort of give a nod to the classic Trek and show I am a fan.

I have heard that ship interiors are coming soon and that there will be functionality within them. I am quite excited about this it opens up a whole new facet to the game it also gives you more of a reason to go there other than to just look at how nice your bridge is, which is nice and I still do it but it would be cool if you could do something there like go there while you are traveling in sector space, or have mini games or missions that take place inside your ship like repairing an EPS conduit or something to do with re arranging isolinear chips for some reason or something like that. It will also be cool to have a captain’s lounge to hang out in and display you trophies.

This is my new Sabre class escort ship the U.S.S ALEXANDER. I replaced the Sabre style “saucer” with a Rapier class “saucer”. And then gave her the Defiant style bridge.

This is my new Refit Constitution class Stat ship the U.S.S TRAFALGAR. She is pretty much stock except for the giant Enterprise D style looking bridge.

STO GAME PLAY

My Starfleet character was promoted to LT Commander. I promoted all my Bridge Crew and recruited a two new bridge crew an engineer and a tactical officer. Last but not least I got my new ship well ships to be more accurate. When I first was choosing my ship I got so excited or took a cruiser a refit Constitution class which I guess is more geared to an Engineering class player and my character is a Tactical class and I guess I should have taken an Escort ship. I renamed the Constitution the TRAFALGAR I upgraded the bridge to a gigantic Enterprise D style looking bridge. I took her for a spin to inspect my new ship that’s when I discovered my mistake. I whet back to Sol I sold off almost everything in my inventory and had enough to by my Sabre class escort upgraded the bridge to a Defiant style bridge. I then Renamed her The ALEXANDER. Because it is a Tactical class ship they have an extra tactical bridge position which is why I needed some new bridge officers. I also had to train them in new and different abilities. I then took the ALEXANDER into a fleet action and it kicked some serious butt. Anyway Now I have three ships.
