Why is it when I scan with either ships sensors or a tricorder any anomalies’ don’t show up on my map?

In spite the fact that I would kind of like a different ship am kind of growing quite fond of my Centaur/Miranda hybrid. I am guessing that it is done this was so that you have to invest time and effort in building a ship up so you kind of have that emotional investment in your ship you become attached to it; but having said that it is kind of like having a sign around your neck that says “New Guy” when you are booting around in your little light cruiser. Anyway I do want a new one but I still kind of like my ship.

THOUGHTS

Did I mention I am really enjoying this game? Well I am; I am taking my time and trying not to run through the missions. I still really want to play as a Klingon but for now I am just trying to get everything out of it I can instead of running through blindly just to unlock content. I am pretty new to MMO’s but I have played a few free to play ones. One thing I am taking away from it so far is I kind of forgot how much I love Star Trek. I know STO is probably not perfect but so far it has been really good for me and I know there is a lot to do and I have just scratched the surface. I am actually thinking of restarted my character from scratch and writing up a bio and everything.

UNIFORMS

I changed up my uniform a little more DS9. I guess I should maybe stop focusing on my character and ship aesthetics and work on beefing up my ships defensive and offensive capabilities.

SHIP INTERIORS

I can’t wait till they get full interiors for your ships. But I am hoping there will be things to do other than just look around. Looking around is not nice but it would be cool if there were mission or mini games that take place inside your ship. I would also like for my character to be able to sit in the captains chair on the bridge and have consol’s that have functions like maps, or communications or something like that.

It seems to me there are almost as many things to do and ways to play STO as there are players.

UNIFORMS

I have to admit one of my first impressions before I had actually played the game was that I did not like the uniforms and I thought the fact you could customise them was kind of silly; I mean if every one has a different uniform on then its not a uniform right? My opinion has changed I now like it I find that no matter how the uniforms are altered they still look like Starfleet uniforms. I even find that everyone running around in different uniforms kind of remind me of the old days when I use to go to Star Trek Cons.

PROGRESS

There is a bit of a learning curve and I am still on the wrong side of it but I really like the game. There are so many things to do inside this game I know it is not perfect and like I said I am still learning my way around. I have completed the first few missions I and got a few promotions I am LT 5 now. I have died a few times, but I have since up graded my phasers and torpedo’s to mark II’s and seem to be doing a bit better.

First thoughts

I was a little disappointed that I could not play as a Klingon right out of the box. I think I understand why it is that way but I am still a little miffed. So I chose to be Vulcan. My first few hours of play I restarted my character and ran through the “training” mission pretty quick. I then Started the Vulcan patrol mission which I am almost finished. So far I am liking things.

First thoughts

These are my thoughts and exploits’ playing STO. I had been following the development of STO and was vary interested but once it came out because there was no demo I just stopped fallowing it. The finally released a demo and I downloaded the demo the weekend before last and played through it a few times and decided I had to play the full game. If my math is correct I have 97 days to see if it is worth it and if I will continue to play after that.
