They have a whole whack of new items on the cryptic store. Some of which I want. I know it is really just cosmetic but I kind of want TOS uniforms and pre refit Constitution would be pretty cool too. Like I say it is only cosmetic but it is kind of a badge too sort of give a nod to the classic Trek and show I am a fan.

I have heard that ship interiors are coming soon and that there will be functionality within them. I am quite excited about this it opens up a whole new facet to the game it also gives you more of a reason to go there other than to just look at how nice your bridge is, which is nice and I still do it but it would be cool if you could do something there like go there while you are traveling in sector space, or have mini games or missions that take place inside your ship like repairing an EPS conduit or something to do with re arranging isolinear chips for some reason or something like that. It will also be cool to have a captain’s lounge to hang out in and display you trophies.

This is my new Sabre class escort ship the U.S.S ALEXANDER. I replaced the Sabre style “saucer” with a Rapier class “saucer”. And then gave her the Defiant style bridge.

This is my new Refit Constitution class Stat ship the U.S.S TRAFALGAR. She is pretty much stock except for the giant Enterprise D style looking bridge.

STO GAME PLAY

My Starfleet character was promoted to LT Commander. I promoted all my Bridge Crew and recruited a two new bridge crew an engineer and a tactical officer. Last but not least I got my new ship well ships to be more accurate. When I first was choosing my ship I got so excited or took a cruiser a refit Constitution class which I guess is more geared to an Engineering class player and my character is a Tactical class and I guess I should have taken an Escort ship. I renamed the Constitution the TRAFALGAR I upgraded the bridge to a gigantic Enterprise D style looking bridge. I took her for a spin to inspect my new ship that’s when I discovered my mistake. I whet back to Sol I sold off almost everything in my inventory and had enough to by my Sabre class escort upgraded the bridge to a Defiant style bridge. I then Renamed her The ALEXANDER. Because it is a Tactical class ship they have an extra tactical bridge position which is why I needed some new bridge officers. I also had to train them in new and different abilities. I then took the ALEXANDER into a fleet action and it kicked some serious butt. Anyway Now I have three ships.

So it turns up Klingons can put any bridge officer at any station. So I did I loaded my bridge stations with tactical officers, trained them in different abilities and took the Qu’hit out for a test cruise this morning and crushed a fed cruiser. One of my officers has the torpedo spread ability the other two have beam effect abilities.

I have been playing for a few weeks now and I can honestly say I love this game. At first I was kind of blindly running around doing missions, but now I am taking my time with missions getting more immersed in the game as it were. I am a family guy I have two young son’s so I don’t have a lot if time to play I am not getting online till 9pm or later and only about an hour to play because I get up for work unbelievably early. I kind of forget where I was going with this but I guess my point is I am now treating STO like a fine steak to be savoured rather than a bag of steak flavoured chips to be crammed in my gob hole.

I did hear something today about Klingon play that you can put any bridge officer at any station. It was on an older STO’ked pod cast pre game release so I don’t know if that has been changed but I am hoping it has not because J’Rodd will have to warp back to Q’ronos and get some more tactical officers.

on the other hand I am making progress with my Starfleet character. I think I am inches away from getting my promotion to Lt Commander. I am starting to give some thought to what new ship I am going to pick and what I will name her. It is a given I will go with a cruiser but I am not to sure about what class I am going to go with.

I am not getting vary far with my Klingon character I seem to be waiting around for long periods of time in PvP queues and I don’t want to waist my precious game playing time. I did get into my first ground combat PvP match the other day and that was a bit of a farce. Part of me thinks that Starfleet has no honour but part of me thinks its my fault for bringing a Bat’leth to a phaser fight. My second ground combat PvP expedition was a little better I did get a few kills but I did get my ass kicked by what looked like a little Vulcan girl.

STO GAME PLAY

I have been listening the STOked pod cast and it is really good, its entertaining its funny its informative. It has also shown me I know almost nothing about playing this game. But on the up side I have leaned a little bit from it like managing my shields actually that’s about it for now; one thing at a time. A lot of the stuff they talk about go’s over my head but it is still entertaining, funny and informative.

I have not played J’Rodd my Klingon character since the weekend. He should probably play a bit more so he can earn the points to get that new ship.

I did not get much of a chance to play last night I briefly went on and took the Crazy horse back to the Sirius sector and took on a new Mission. But that is as far as I got.

J’Rodd got his first accolade for crossing into the neutral zone. I also had my first PvP play. Klingons won the engagement, J’Rodd did okay I think he got three kills. It was kind of cool he was with a group of thee BOP’s circling a pre-refit Constitution class ship. We destroyed it and everyone broke off in different directions and cloaked at the same time it was kind of cool. Vatok my Starfleet character did not fare so well, same map opposite side. I was on the receiving end of it. I was lining up for an attack then I hear the ships de-cloaking and three BOP’s are on top of my ship just hammering me. I don’t even think I got one kill that game.

I just noticed the other day that all of Vatok’s bridge crew is female; it was not intentional despite what I said previously. I did alter one of their appearances, they were a generic alien and I made her into Cardassian. On the other hand J’Rodd’s crew I want to keep as Klingon as I can, I don’t mind Naussican’s but I really don’t like Gorn’s.

I got a little farther a head with my Starfleet character. I finished a few missions one last night then this morning I finished an earlier mission I thought I had already finished. Both J’Rodd my Klingon and Vatok Starfleet characters are at LT 7 rank now. I think my Starfleet character is going to head back to the Sirius sector and try and complete as many of the missions there as I can, I believe I headed into the neutral zone a little to quickly. Returning to the Sirius sector seems like a logical decision

I have hit a bit of a wall with both my characters I have been switching back and forth between the two but am not getting vary far with either of them. I wish the Klingon PvE was a little more fleshed out because I am finding it hard to get a good PvP game going although I did figure out the queue system last night finally, I had thought the numbers were time not number of players in the queue.

I did not mention J’Rodd got a new bridge for his BOP the QU’HIT I also made a few minor changes to the hull. I really want a K’TINGA I would imagine it will take me a wile to get the points to get one and hopefully by that time there will be ship interiors.

STO ISSUES

I am having a bit of a uniform problem with J’Rodd my Klingon character, I got a nice sash and there seems to be some clipping problems with it seems to go right through his shoulder pad. That kind of bugs me but I did do a search and apparently it is a know issue and they are looking into it.

Sometimes wile running around and I stop to check out another player’s avatar wither they have a cool uniform or they are really big or really small or kind of hot, I get a little self conscious wondering if they know I am “checking them out” because the avatar just kind of has a blank stare. I also get a little self conscious because occasionally I am ogling a computer animated character but I can rationalize it by saying it is my character not me who is doing the ogling.

I kind of think STO is a game with social networking aspects although I have not utilized that aspect of the game yet. J’Rodd my Klingon character was invited into a Fleet on Saturday night but that was the only contact I had with my new Fleet.

J’Rodd my Klingon character received a promotion to LT 7 over the weekend. I flipped over to Vatok my Starfleet character for a bit over the weekend as well and made my first trip to Memory Alpha.

Wile I kind of would like to play as a Cardassian I also of think the Klingon game play needs to be fleshed out a little more first.
